Happy Fridays
About Happy Fridays
The essence of Happy Fridays is found when true friends reunite to recharge themselves and each other with positive energy.
Inspired by the philospher Aristotle, the Happy Fridays engage in three kinds of friendship which empower practitioners over time. Also inspired by the positive psychology movement, we uphold a core principle based on the time-perspectives of people who rate themselves among the happiest, report rising levels of prosperity, and enjoy successful and fulfilling relationships. Happy Friday gatherings are designed specifically to foster members' well-being and success through these cornerstones.
"Cultivating a close, warm-hearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the ultimate source of success in life."
- Tenzen Gyatsu, the 14th Dalai Lama
The Mission of Happy Fridays
The mission of Happy Fridays is to cultivate the practice of Aristotle's Three Friendships and application of the Principle of Roots, Wings, and Energy through regular gatherings and special events.
Leadership
Ultimately, what makes an idea good in a Happy Fridays group is that it serves the mission. The feelings and ideas of members are always taken into account when it comes to making decisions, but ultimately the mission is used to choose which ones are appropriate. Leaders are selected for their understanding and implementation of the practice.
Here are a list of the tasks the leader takes on.

The Practice in Action
The Three Friendships,
The Circle, the Book of Roots, and the Unbroken Chain
A Happy Fridays group creates together an unbroken chain that goes back to its inception. Each week, a member volunteers to bring the Sacrifice - a libation used to celebrate the successes of the members of the groue. It is called the Sacrifice because one member sacrificed some time and money to provide the libation for the toast. If no member volunteers, or a member who volunteers fails to ensure that the Sacrifice is provided, the chain is broken and the Happy Fridays group is disbanded.
